Besides Deliberate I also run Studio Scratches.
We record scratching (of the DJ turntable variety) for audio productions and make instructional videos on how to scratch for youtube.
One Saturday a fan of the videos who happened to have studied some of my scratching pretty hard and whom I had helped explain a technique to, contacted me to say that he was sure he had heard my scratching on a BBC documentary and asked if I had released this to them.
I hadn’t and after tracking down the program on iPlayer it turned out that it was indeed my audio.
It was only a few seconds at a time but this person recognised one of my signature scratches and happened to be watching at the right time. Coincidence or channels opening?
To cut a long story short, everything has been sorted out with the BBC and more episodes are in production and they require more of my scratching. I will give you more details once its released for viewing.
There is no way I could have imagined those series of events, I just knew the direction I wanted to go – SCRATCH for other people.
Hope this encourages you to keep on doing whatever you really want to do in life.
